NAME: Vince Maiorino

BIOGRAPGHY

 

With over 35 years of rifle coaching experience, including 16 years of collegiate coaching at St. John’s University, Maiorino is a true veteran of the sport. A former New York State Champion and competitive shooter himself, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. Vince is an International Coach and a Certified Rifle Coach, earning his certification at the United States Military Academy under two world famous coaches, Frank Briggs and Web Wright. Further coaching experience was gained when Vince had the opportunity to spend time at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. 

During his time at St. John’s, Vince coached twelve All-Americans and took the team to as many NCAA Rifle Championships.

At the conclusion of his first year as head coach the rifle team was named most improved team in both the air rifle and smallbore disciplines by the Mid-Atlantic Rifle Conference (MAC). During his first four years at John Jay the rifle team ranking in the MAC has advanced two full division in both the Air Rifle discipline and the Smallbore (.22 cal.) discipline. The rifle team won five MAC Championships in Maiorino’s five years as head coach. Each season the team has established new team records in both disciplines. At the 2004–05 MAC Championship they defeated the Virginia Military Academy to win the Championship. The following year, competing in a higher class, the team defeated the prestigious Penn State to win the same championship. On Maiorino’s watch the team has also been invited to compete in shoulder-to-shoulder competitions at the United States Naval Academy four times.
